Thulabharam in Tirumala Temple is held at the Srivari Padi Kavali. In the Thulabaram ritual, a devotee sits on a pan of the weighing balance and the other pan is filled with materials greater than the weight of the devotee. Devotees usually offer sugar, jaggery or coins.
The commodity used to weigh is donated to Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. T.T.D, the administrative body of the temple, provides the materials needed for performing Tulabharam. Few devotees fulfil their vows by exchanging with Rupee coins. Few fulfil their vows by Niluvudopidi i.e, they simply remove whatever the ornaments they wear and drop the same in the Hundi. Behind Thulabaaram, we find a Central Control Room where all the closed-circuit T.Vs are constantly monitored in a single place.
Thulabharam in Tirumala Procedure
The T.T.D has simplified the procedure of Thulabharam inside Srivari Temple and made it convenient for both the devotee and also for the Institution.
New procedure: the T.T.D accepts all offerings in form of cash only and fixed rates as per quantity to the weight of person or child Like the value of Rs1 offered is Rs.222, Rs.5 offered is Rs.555 per one kg. Similarly, Rice per kg is valued at Rs.27, Sugar at Rs.34, and Jaggery at Rs.27 and Sugar Candy at Rs.30.
The entire process of Thulabharam accounts is handled by two nationalized banks Indian Bank and Syndicate bank inside the temple. ‘An amount on par with money collected is deposited in the bank. The banks operate the Thulabaram account by shift – It is Indian Bank during day time and Syndicate during the night.
if someone brings coins it is considered for Thulabharam but devotee to deposit coins in Srivari Hundi after weighing.
Thulabharam Reference in Siva Puranam
Thulabharam is a Hindu ritual that has been practised from Dwapara Yuga. Tulabharam means a person weighing himself or herself in a balance and pays in an equal weight of gold, fruits or grains to God when one’s prayers are fulfilled.
The earliest reference to a Tulabharam comes from the Mahabharata, about the great emperor Sibi. He was so famous his name is found in ancient Tamil Sangam literature in four places and later in hundreds of places. He was even praised in Buddhist Jataka stories and Borobudur (Indonesia) sculptures. Emperor Sibi was a just king. Lord Indra and Agni wanted to test him and came in the form of an eagle and a dove. When the dove came to Sibi for protection from the chasing eagle, Sibi was ready to offer anything to save the dove. The eagle asked him to give his flesh measure for measure. Sibi cut himself bit by bit but the pans in the balance were never equal. At last, when he himself stood on the pan the Gods appeared in front of him and blessed him. The story is found in other Sanskrit works as well.”

1) Thulabharam is open round the clock
2) No special darshan tickets are available for Night.
If you have time then I suggest you to plan for Thirupaavada for which tickets will be issued a day before at C.R.O. This is one of the best Darshan at Tirumala. For E.g for Thirupaavada on 6 A.M 19th Feb , tickets will be issued at C.R.O on 18th Feb at 6.A.M. Queue line starts around 6 P.M at C.R.O. 850 tickets will be issued for this.
Another option is Kalyanotsavam tickets for which only 3 are allowed in a family, this is also day seva only.

Coins are not allowed to deposit in Sri Vaari Hundi. As Sri Vaari Hundi comes after Darshan so one can’t carry Coins due to security reasons. Even if coins are placed at Thulabharam site it is offered to God and it holds the same prominence. Please let me know if further explanation required.

We have Kalyanam tickets for Sunday (Feb 28th). We are planning to perform Tulabharam for my son (2 yr old) also at the same time. When we go for Darshan, after Kalyanm, can we go out of the queue and perform Tulabharam? Will we be allowed to rejoin the Kalyanam (special) queue after Tulabharam?

Yes, It is allowed to rejoin Kalyanam queue line after Thulabharam. Please not that there is no special queue after Thulabharam, you will be back to same Kalyanam queue.

For Thulabharam there is no special tickets available, it is the same Darshan ticket. Whole family is allowed at Thulabharam site.
When comes to Darshan, if you go by walk then Divya Darshan Token will be issued on the path, if not interested in Walk then Rs.300 Ticket is available online.
There is another option for INFANT parents, which is entry via Supatham. Where they will allow only Kid and parents.
As you are planning with elder people, I would suggest to look for Sevas at ttdsevaonline.com , when seva or Darshan ticket is booked then it will allow for Accommodation.

1) Yes, you are allowed to carry Coins for Thulabharam and also coins will be provided by paying cash at Thulabharam site. I would suggest you to get coins at Thulabharam site itself rather carrying coins by your own. As security guys will keep questioning at the Coins while moving in Queue line.

Yes, Weekdays is preferable if you are coming with family. As crowd will be comparatively lesser to weekends. Yes, You are allowed to carry Coins for Thulabharam, if there is no specific reason then I would suggest you to get coins at Thulabharam itself. Supatham is entry for Infant and his/her parents. Please note that only parents are allowed for the infant and not Grand parents.

1) TB Cottage is Right opposite to J.E.O Camp office. TB Cottages is located near Alwar Tank. You can find TB Cottage 74 once you enter TB Cottage, it is at the entrance itself.
2) Supatham is meant for privileged entry for which ticket is not required. And will allow pilgrims only on specified timings. If at all there is any restriction at Supatham entry for infant and parents, Rs.300 ticket will be issued at Supatham Entry itself.

Everything is done inside Temple, right from weighing baby, paying cash at Bank , providing jaggery and offerigs at Thulabharam site itself.
Right at the entrnace of Mahadwaram you can find Padikaavali, where you can ask T.T.D staff that you need to do Thulabharam and rest all will be taken care by them. Please let me know if more details required.

Let me explain process step wise
Step 1: Book tickets either online or get tickets at Divya Darshan Counters which are available on the walking path
Step 2: Go for Tonsuring either at Kalyan Katta or Rambageecha Guest House
Step 3: Enter Queue Line (Rs.300 Q Line or Divya Darshan Q Line) with Cashew nuts by showing Tickets and Photo ID proof
Step 4: Carry Cashew nuts till Padikaavali , which is available at the entrance of Mahadwaram)
Step 5: You need to tell T.T.D Staff that you need to weigh with Cashew nuts and once weighing is done , handover the cashew nuts to them.
Step 6: After Thulabharam you need to rejoin Q Line
Step 7: Lord Malayappa Darshan

Apologies for whatever happenend. Supatham is available up to 1 year not sure why Guard objected. It is written even on the display notice board at Supatham Entrance. Problem is that there is no complaint cell with T.T.D to take action against these kind of incidents.

Thanks for the info. We had a good darshan on March 21. Our trip details are as follows:
Departed Tirupati at 8 AM and reached PAC main Kalyana khatta for tonsuring, by 9 AM. There was heavy rush and we managed to finish it only by 1130 AM.
We went to MBC and parked our car. We left our footwear in the car and had a look at TBC 74 just to be sure we are at the right place and at 1 PM took a jeep from MBC to Annadana Hall. Had lunch and at 140 PM took a jeep ride back to TBC 74. Joined the queue at 1:50 PM and reached one of the waiting compartments by 3 PM. After waiting for half an hour or so, the queue started again and were able to have darshan by around 4 PM. After that we saw the idols being taken out for evening puja at 445 PM and then went and collected the laddus. On the whole, a divine experience. We went to goddess Padmavathi temple in the evening. Understand that the temple is open till 10 PM.

For Thulabharam there is no special ticket available it is the same Darshan ticket. Once you enter Mahadwaram then you can ask for Thulabharam at Padikaavali which is at the entrance. Thualbaharam can be done all the day there is no special timings. Please let me know if further details required.

It is Rs.555 per K.G with Rs.5 Coins, you need to carry 555*60 = 33300 ( Approx). It is always good to carry higher amount than specified as weight may varies here and there.
Procedure for Thulabharam:
1) As you are planning with family, I would suggest to look for Seva Tickets where it can accommodate Adults and Child.
If Seva tickets are not available then it is good to go with Rs.300 Ticket which is available online at ttdsevaonline.com
2) Thulabharam is available at Mahadwaram Entrance. Once you enter Mahadwaram there you can look for Padikaavali at the Right side. If you miss that still not a problem you can ask any staff who will take you to Thulabharam.
3) Once you reach Thulabharam site there you need to weigh you daughter and then T.T.D Staff will let you on amount required to pay at Bank.
4) After payment you need to show the receipt to T.T.D Staff following which they will weigh your daughter with 5 Rupee Coins and they will take the coins back.

Reporting time for Darshan is Noon 12 (Darshan time is 1 PM).

Yes, it is possible if you reach Tirupati by 10 A.M and manage things rightly. Journey time from Tirupati Bus station to Tirumala is 40 mins by Bus, minimum time to reach Tirumala is 28 mins.
Tonsuring can be done either at Kalyana Katta or Rambageecha Guest House.
For Thulabharam, you don’t need to carry Kalakandu it is provide at Thulabharam site inside temple.All you need to pay cash at D.D. TTD Staff will let you know the amount to be paid at Bank counter.

3)How much time it will take to complete darshana as I have return train at 6PM? – You are allowed to Darshan after 45 mins. which means the actual Q Line starts between 1:30 – 1:45 P.M And it takes – 1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours to complete Darshan. And from Tirumala to Railway Station it takes 55 mins.

1) I’m sorry for that, even if it is 5 minutes they will release your booking accommodation. So please plan to arrive well before that.
2) Kalakandu will be provided at Dulabaram, no need to carry it.
3) Ideally you are good, usually Darshan will take 2 to 2:30 hours from the given Darshan Time.
Option is available for Parents with infant below 1 year but only parents are allowed inside along with Infant and not anyone so it would be nice to go ahead with your Rs.300 tickets.

Parents with Infant below 1 year is allowed at Supatham between 8 A.M To 1 P.M. Please carry Age proof for the baby.
Problem is that Security guard will ask for more details than required.
Recently one of the pilgrim had bitter experience at Supatham Entrance, where they didn’t allow infant less than 1 year. Security guard asked for Age proof and also said that baby should be less than 10 months old.
Actually, Supatham entrance is meant for infants less than 1 year and proof is really not required as many will not carry age proof. But Security guards will do so much of drama. I’m trying to provide more details so that you will be prepared before reaching Tirumala.

Here is the process for accommodation in Tirupati.
1) Take D.D. In favor of E.O Tirumala with double cost of the room. Room fares are Rs 200,400,800 and 1000. If you are interested in Rs.200 Room then you should take D.D. for Rs.400. Additional Rs.200 is Caution Deposit, which will be refunded at the time of vacating.
2) And send letter to T.T.D E.O with requisition letter before 30 days.
3) After checking availability they will allot the room.

The weight of the person is first measured and accordingly do we need to pay the amount at the mentioned banks? Will the banks give the receipt for the payment and jaggery is provided so that we go to the mentioned pandal or do we have to make the payment online for the particular day prior to the travel? .
After the receipt is given and incase jaggery is provided , do we any people who will help us through the Thulabharam process for us to complete this ritual incase of any gaps being faced by us?

2) Bank is available next to Thulabharam, you need to pay the amount and in return bank will provide you with receipt.
3) Provide the receiving receipt to T.T.D Staff, then they will weigh the person with Sugar Candy.
4) After Thulabharam, T.T.D Staff will take the Sugar Candy with them. You don’t need to do anything.
5) It is applicable to all ages. No restriction.

As it is 40 members, I would suggest to get at least 8 Recommendation letters and that too not from one M.P. As they can’t allocate 8 rooms for all the recommendation letters from one M.P. Ideally 5-6 persons can stay in a room so you would need 8 rooms minimum. And to J.E.O Camp Office one person can only take 2 recommendation letters so 5 persons should carry letters and need to wait with patience. Fee should be paid while taking room.

2) If 9 A.M is the reporting, Darshan timing will be 1 hour after Reporting time. Around you are allowed for Darshan and from 10 A.M it will take 1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours max to come out of the Temple with Darshan. And after Darshan it will take 15 mins max to collect Laddus. which means that by 1:30 p.m you can start to Tirupati.
From Tirumala it wil take maximum 50-55 mins to reach Tirupati Bus station.
3) Yes, Locker facility is available right opposite to Vaikuntam Q complex entrance.

Yes, Tonsuring can be done before 12 P.M , It hardly takes 30 mins max. Rambageecha is near Mahadwaram. Please check your inbox for Rambageecha Route map and TB Cottage Entry map. If your Darshan time is 1 P.M , then it will take 2 hours max to come out the Temple with Darshan and 15-20 mins to collect Laddus at Laddus Counter. So by 4 or 4:15 you can start to Tirupati, which takes 50-60 mins to reach Tirupati Bus station.

It costs Rs.222 for 1 Kg, which means 17 Kg * Rs.222 = Rs. 3774 for Thulabharam. It would be advisable to carry little more cash in hand as weight may vary plus or minus at Thulabharam. Bank is available right inside Temple at Thulabharam site. After entering Mahadwaram you will find it on the left corner.
It is quite visible for pilgrims. Please check your mailbox for Thulabharam map.
After Thulabharam, you are allowed to rejoin Queue line. It is quite simple.

1) Tickets are not required for the Childrens up to 12 years. So you don’t need to buy any tickets for them.
2) Age proof is not required, if you have it is better to carry. T.T.D staff will usually demand for age proof for the children near 12 years. If you don’t have also still you are good.
3) Yes, there is a process to get accommodation in Tirumala, After reaching Tirumala you need to stand in Queue at C.R.O Office Tirumala and Rooms are allotted on First-Cum-First Serve basis.
You can even manager without Room in Tirumala, if you could let me know number of days that your are planning to stay in Tirumala. If it is one day Room is really not required.

Yes, there are many places to Visit in Tiurmala which are nearby. Akash Ganga Theertham, Papavinasam, Chakra Theertham, SriVari Paadhaalu ( Holy feet of Lord Venkateswara – First Foot impression of Lord venkateswara on the Hils), Sila Thoranam(Natural Rock formation ). All these places are quite accessible. And one must visit.
Next important Temples, Sri Bedi Anjaneyaswamy Temple ( Opposite to Mahadwaram, next to Akhilandam), Sri Aadhi VarahaSwamy Temple(at the entrance of Pushkarini).
I guess this will occupy your time, if you still need more, I’m happy to share info with you.

Thulabharam will be done inside Temple, which means Darshan and Thulabharam should go together.
After entering Mahadwaram, you can find Thulabharam site on the Left corner. You need to get out of the Queue Line for Thulabharam. After Thulabharam you can rejoin the Queue Line.
Process at Thulabharam
1) TTD staff will weigh your daughter and will tell you the amount to be paid at Bank counter which is available there at the Thulabharam site.
2) After paying money in Cash, Receipt will be issued and you need to show the receipt to the Staff
3) Then they will weigh your daughter with the actual coins and take the money back with them.
4) Now you are good to rejoin Queue Line for Darshan.
5) For 1 Kg – with 1 Rupee Coins it costs 220 Rs. which means 8*220 = 1760 . It is good to carry little more as weight may vary than expected.

From Tirupati Central Bus Station, there are many buses to Chandragiri with high frequency, as T.T.D Gosamrakshana Shala is hardly 5-6 Km from Tirupati Bus Sation long route buses will not allow boarding.
T.T.D Gosamrakshana Shala or T.T.D Dairy Form Route map :
Buse fom Tirupati Bus Station -> Tirupati Railway Station -> Prakasam Road -> S.V.University Road -> Railway Gate after crossing S.V.University -> After Railway Gate T.T.D Dairy form is on the Left Hand Side.
Even you can go by Autos but they usually demand high even for smaller distances.

Yes, Every Sri Kalahasti bus travels via Reniguunta and from Renigunta, Kalahasti Temple is 27 Km which takes around 35 minutes by Road.
Ideally you will be at Kalahasti at 9:45 am and it will take another 45 mins max for Complete Darshan and Archana, which means 10:45 – 11 a.m , you will come out Kalahasti Temple and From Kalahasti, It will take 45 – 55 minutes to reach Tirupati Bus station i.e 11:45 am you will reach Tirupati. From Tirupati it will take 30 mins – 45 minutes Tirumala. Which means that you will be at Tirumala by 12:30- 12:45 pm.
It can be worked out if connectivity works as planned.
Tiruchanoor Temple can be later visited after Darshan.
If you don’t want to take risk, then it would good to visit Tiruchanoor Temple and after Darshan plan for Kalahasti.
Travels is really not required they may exploit the oppurtunity.
Plan as suggested it is simple
1) Reach Tirupati -> Visit Tiruchanoor Temple
2) Tiruchanoor – > Tirupati Bus Station
3) Tirupati -> Tirumala Temple
4) Tirumala Darshan will be completed by 4 p.m so if you start to Kalahasti by 5 p.m then you can reach 5:45 pm and Darshan and Archana will be done by 6:30 pm.
5) Direct bus is available from Kalahasti to Chennai CMBT at 7:15 pm and 8:30 p.m on 20th May.

And it is only one Bus stop in Tirumala and that is final Stop in Tirumala. From there everyone should walk towards Temple.
Many star Hotels are nearby Tirupati Bus station are Hotel Bhimas Paradise, Hotel Kences which is right opposite, Hotel Bliss and many more star hotels are there which are walk able distance. No need to hire any Auto, you can ignore their request.

Infant and parents are allowed Right from 8 am till evening 6 pm.

No separate booking or Ticket is required for Thulabharam, you Darshan Ticket will suffice the requirement. Thulabharam will be done inside The Temple while going for Darshan. After Thulabharam (Weighing), you need to rejoin the same Darshan Line. Thulabharam process is a matter of 20 -25 minutes.
After entering Mahadwaram, you can find Thulabharam on the left corner. Please check your mailbox for Thulabharam site marking.

4) After receiving SMS , you need to collect Tickets from MBC 34 counter after paying Ticket Cost.
Lucky Draw applies only for Arjith Seva tickets like ( Suprabhatam, Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, Tiruppavada, Visesha Pooja, Kalyanotsavam)

Laghu Darshan means, devotees can only see Lord from 7th gate, when crowd is high, T.T.D will go for Laghu Darshan. For Good darshan, plan your tirumala trip on weekday.

Thulabharam at Tirumala starts with Rs.1 and for 1 kg it is Rs.222 which means for 52 Kg it will be Rs.11,544. as lower denominations Ten paisa, 50 paisa no more exists. let me check and get back to you on Rs.2 . All your family member can join for Thulabharam, as there is no restrictions with the number of persons allowed.

2 – 3 pm Darshan slot means, 2 pm is the reporting time and 3 pm is Darshan line time. Which means from 3 pm , it will be 2 hours to 2 hours 15 mins (max) to complete darshan.
1 hour is the waiting at Compartments (locked halls) before allowing pilgrims for Darshan.

As it is monday, Crowd usually comes down in Tirumala. It would be good to book for e-special entry darshan (Rs.300 ) ticket online so that you can have pre booking. You can also carry baby food into darshan line which is allowed.
If you are reaching on Monday, then it would be good to look for accommodation in Tirupati. T.T.D Cottages Vishu Nivasam is available at Railway Station. Which is walk able from Railway station entrance. Where rooms are allotted to Pilgrims On Arrival.
Thulabharam will be done inside temple, while in Darshan line after entering Mahadwaram you can find Thulabharam on the left corner. you need to disconnect from Darshan for Thulabharam. After Thulabharam you can rejoin Darshan line.
For Thulabharam there is no special tickets required and it operates for 24 hours.

While moving in Darshan line, you can find Thulabharam site after entering Mahadwaram. It is located on the left corner, after Thulabharam you can rejoin Darshan line.

Private accommodation is not available in Tirumala, it is only TTD cottages. If you would like to stay, then it is advisable to stay in Tirupati.

Hair offering can be done at KalyanaKatta Tirumala. During off peak hours, it takes 30 mins for offering. During Peak Hours, it will be 50 mins.

Please start by 5 am so that you can reach Tirumala by 9:30 am – 9:45 am. After reaching Tirumala, please go to Srivari Pushkarini and sprinkle water on your head and then go for Aadhi Varaha Swamy Darshan. After that you can join Darshan line.

I wanted to share my plan to you and seek your guidance and suggestions:
1. Me and my family coming from Bangalore on 4th Oct 15 and will reach Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple and stay near to temple. In the evening have Darshan of Sri Padmavathi Devi and relax.
2. next day5th oct morning by 6 am we will start for Tirumala and reach Tirumala Tirupati Devsthan and search for SMC 211 and queued up for Sri Balaji Darshan.
3. Once Sri Balaji Darshan over and we will rest a while then we will start for Sri Kalahasti and stayed at night there. On 6th oct Tuesday morning we will have Puja Archana (Rahu Ketu Puja) and once Puja done. we will start back to bangalore. My Entry time for Darshan is 10:00 AM at smc211.
Please suggest if the plan is OK or you can suggest some suggestion. Please also share about the Car Parking details at SMC 211.

You trip plan looks good with little changes
1) 4th Oct, plan to to Visit Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple and Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple (optional). As per puranas one should take bath or at least sprinkle water from Kapila Theertham before starting to Tirumala.
2) 5th Oct : Start to Tirumala and Park car near to MBC 34 , it is open parking area. From there, plan to visit Swamy Pushkarini which is near main Temple and sprinkle water on your head. From MBC 34 to Swamy Pushkarini it takes around 25 mins by walk. And then go for Aadhi Varaha swamy Darshan. which is next to Pushkarini. It takes 30 mins (max) for Darshan.
3) Then plan to join queue line at SMC 211 . SMC 211 is at SMC Cottages and near Annayamayya Circle in Tirumala. I will be sending the Tirumala map for your reference.
4) After Balaji Darshan, please visit Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple Tiruchanoor.
5) Now you are good to go with Sri Kalahasthi Rahu Ketu Pooja
6) You need to fast till you complete Rahu Ketu pooja
7) If possible do Abhishekam to the Idols at Rudra Padam (which is 100 ft away from Pathala Ganapathi Temple). Just 2-3 liters is enough for the abhishekam and sprinkle milk on the idols. And do 3 pradakshinam.
8) After this you can perform Rahu ketu pooja, tickets are issued right at the counter
9) After pooja, plan to donate 2-3 meal packets to the poor.
With this your trip will be complete and good to start home.

It is wrongly stated in the ticket, You can only collect Laddu after Darshan.
Let me tell you the procedure – > After entering Darshan, it will be marked in the system that the devotee attended and eligible for Laddus -> Once it is marked in the system -> You are eligible to collect Laddus from the counter.
So you are good to continue with Darshan first and then collect Laddus at your free time.
Those who don’t go for Darshan will not be eligible for Laddus.
You Darshan slot is 10 am – 11 am, you are allowed for Darshan at 11 am and it will take 1 hour 15 mins to complete Darshan, which means by 12:15 pm you will be out of the temple and 15 mins to collect Laddus. By 12:30 pm you are good to leave Tirupati.
Tirumala to Tirupati will not take more 1 hour by Bus or Jeep . So you have plenty of time to relax, no need to do things in hurry.

you can get NRI dharshan tickets producing your foreign passport at supadam gate in tirumala the timings are 12pm to 5pm.
and only within 30days of your arrival you can avail the dharshan.Thulabharam is performed at the entrence of the temple and the cost of 5 rupee coins per KG is 380rs.
