Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Sarva Pitru Shanti Pooja in Gokarna is performed daily. The puja takes 1 to 2 hours. One to three priests will perform this ritual. This ritual is performed for all your ancestors. The word “Sarva” means “all,” and “Pitru” means “ancestors.” “Shanti” means “appease,” and “pooja” means “ritual.” It is advisable to perform this puja on Amavasya. This puja starts at 7 a.m. Pinda Pradhan will be performed for each name. An elder from the family should perform this puja. You have to gather all your ancestors’ names. One should take a head bath before and after the puja.
We offer online puja services for those who are unable to attend. The Sarva Pitru Shanti Pooja will be livestreamed through a video call. You have to join the video call to perform sankalp. Those who plan to perform this ritual during Pitru Paksha should inform us in advance. One should reach Gokarna a day before. You have to wear traditional dress for this ritual. The dress code is mandatory even for online puja services. For online puja services, a Brahman will perform this ritual on your behalf. All your family members can participate in this ritual. But an elder should perform this puja. This ritual is performed outside the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple.
Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from dressing in jeans and T-shirts.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Sarva Pitru Shanti Pooja in Gokarna
The total number of ancestors’ names determines how long Sarva Pitru Shanti Pooja lasts. It is advisable to perform this puja once a year. Ancestors are there to protect their family members. It’s our responsibility to seek blessings from our ancestors. This ritual is an individual puja. We don’t combine this ritual with other families. Pitru Paksha days and Mahalaya Amavasya day are highly preferable for this ritual. In Gokarna, we speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and English. This puja is performed next to the water source. Those who plan to perform Annadan for Brahman should inform us in advance. Brahman Bhojana might not be possible during Pitru Paksha and on Mahalaya Amavasya. During these special days, we will perform other rituals. In Gorkna, we perform other pujas such as Thila Homam, Moksha Narayana Bali Pooja, Tripindi Shraddh, and Pinda Pradhan.
