Amavasya Pitru Dosha Puja in Gokarna is performed daily. The puja duration is 3 hours. Three to ten priests perform this ritual depending on the puja procedure. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their dosha. It is advisable to perform this puja on an Amavasya for effective results. On an Amavasya day, the puja starts at 6 a.m. Rush will be high on this special day. In Gokarna, we speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English. The puja will be performed in your native language. All mantras will be recited in Sanskrit. One should take a head bath before the puja.
We offer online puja services for those who are unable to attend. The puja will be livestreamed through the video call. One should join the video call to perform sankalpam. An elder from the family should perform this puja. A son cannot perform this puja if his father is alive. In such a scenario, a Brahman can perform the rituals on your behalf. A daughter can perform the ritual, and at the end, a Brahman will perform the Pinda Pradhan on her behalf. This puja is an individual puja. We don’t perform samuhika pujas or group pujas. On special days, we start puja as early as 4.30 a.m. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. The purpose of this puja is to appease the spirits of the departed ancestors.
Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from dressing in jeans and T-shirts.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Amavasya Pitru Dosha Puja in Gokarna
Pitru Dosha puja is performed in a yagashala outside the Gokarna Mahabalseshwar Temple. Thila Homa mantra count might change the puja duration. An astrologer will let you know the Japa Sankhya count for the Pitru Shāp. We supply the puja articles required for the ritual. One should bring a coconut and a sari along with a blouse piece. It is advisable to fast while performing this ritual. We don’t advise fasting for the elderly and children. We perform Narayanabali along with Thila homam.
