Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Amavasya Pitru Dosha Pooja in Gokarna is performed to appease the ancestors’ souls. Amavasya is preferred for Pitru pujas. Anyone can perform this ritual regardless of their dosha. The puja duration is 2.5 to 3 hours. Three to seven priests will perform this ritual depending on the Thila homa count. The puja starts at 5 a.m. on an Amavasya day. On a normal day, the puja starts at 8.30 a.m. An elder from the family should perform this ritual. In their absence, a Brahman can perform this ritual. As this puja includes Pitru Tharpanam, a son or daughter cannot perform this ritual while their father is alive.

We speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and English. The puja will be performed in your native language. This puja is performed in a yagashala located outside the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple. It is advisable to perform Pitru-related pujas on this special day for effective results. A father can only perform Pitru Dosha puja on behalf of their child. Pitru dosha may be inherited from your previous birth or from your ancestors. When someone ignores pitru karya, this dosha occurs. A single person or a couple can perform this puja.
Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from dressing in jeans and T-shirts.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Amavasya Pitru Dosha Pooja in Gokarna
Pitru Dosha Pooja can be performed regardless of the dosha in your birth chart. Anyone can perform this ritual for the family’s well-being. This puja is performed daily in Gokarna. Those who are planning to perform this ritual should bring a sari, a blouse piece, and a coconut. It is advisable to plan Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Darshan a day before the puja. Rush will be high on an Amavasya day. After the puja, one should discard the dress worn during the ritual. This rule is applicable for only those who perform the ritual. It is advisable to fast while performing this ritual. We don’t suggest fasting for the elderly and patients.
