Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Pitru Dosha Puja in Gokarna is performed daily. In Gokarna, Pitru Paksha Puja is held in September/October. The puja lasts for about 3 hours. This puja is performed to remove pitru dosha. Pitru Paksha is auspicious for Pitru pujas. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. An elder from the family should perform this puja. One should take a head bath before and after the puja. The puja starts as early as 5.00 a.m. during Pitru Paksha days. Three priests will perform this ritual. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. We don’t advise fasting for the elderly and children. In Gokarna, we speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English. The puja will be performed in your native language. Your whole family can participate in this puja. One who performs this puja should discard the clothes worn during the ritual.

Pitru dosha puja should be performed with utmost sincerity and devotion. The purpose of Pitru Dosha puja is to eliminate Pitru shaap from either the current or previous birth. Disregarding the ancestors’ rituals can lead to this dosha. This puja is recommended for people who carry out rituals at the wrong time. Pitru Paksha days are auspicious for this ritual. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their dosha. An astrologer can let you know the severity of the dosha. One should bring a sari, a blouse piece, and a coconut for this ritual. This puja is performed in a yagashala outside the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple.
Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from dressing in jeans and T-shirts.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Pitru Dosha Puja Procedure in Gokarna
Sometimes the deceased person will still appear in your dreams. It is a negative sign, and it might affect the existing family members. This dosha might affect health, wealth, and mental peace. A single woman can perform the ritual, and at the end, a Brahman will do the final part. It is advisable to carry an extra set of clothes. The puja starts at 8.30 a.m on normal days. It is an individual puja. We don’t perform group pujas or samuhika pujas.
