Moksha Narayanabali Pooja in Gaya is performed daily. The puja lasts for about 3-4 hours. An elder from the family should perform this puja. This puja should be performed if there is any unnatural death in the family. Anyone from the family can perform this ritual. Even a Brahman can perform this ritual on behalf of your family members. Three priests will perform this ritual. The puja starts at 8 a.m. on normal days. During Pitru Paksha days, the puja starts as early as 6 a.m. On Mahalaya Amavasya day, this puja starts at 5 a.m. This puja is performed on the river bank. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja.

This puja can be performed after the eleventh day of the cremation. It is advisable to fast while performing this ritual. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. This puja should be performed even if someone has left home and is not sure where they are.

Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.

Instructions to be followed

Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.

When a person commits suicide, such as by consuming poison, jumping from heights, hanging, etc.
A person died in a road accident.
Drowned in water.
Snakebite or any other poisonous creature.
Death caused by a disease or sickness.
Death at an early age.
Or any other unnatural reason.

This puja is performed outside the Gaya Temple. We supply the puja articles for this ritual. You can perform this puja on any day. An astrologer can let you know the auspicious day for this ritual. This dosha might cause frequent abortions. An unsatisfied soul will not leave this Earth. It might cause pain to the existing family members. This puja helps the departed soul enter the cycle of rebirth or achieve moksha. A Brahman can perform this ritual on behalf of a female. A son cannot perform this ritual if his father is alive.
