Kalaynotsavam in Tirumala marks the hour long celestial wedding ritual performed to Utsava murthis, this ritual is performed according to Vaikasa Agama Sastras.

Kalyanotsavam Seva Start Time: 10:30 A.M

Description of Kalyanotsavam

Agni Pratishta

Agni Pratista where in the pious agni (Fire) is lit and Prayaschitta homam will be conducted.

Vastra Samarpana

Then follows Vastra Samarpana, a new set of silk vastrams were offered to deities. The Lord Sri Venkateswara and Goddesses Sri Devi and Bhu Devi will be seated separately on two different Asanas as they are yet to tie the holy wedding knot.

Maha Sankalpam

Maha Sankalpam, where in the descendant of Tallapaka family performs Kanyadanam on behalf of Goddesses.


In any Hindu Marriage, Kanyadanam occupies a prominent place. Here the Gotra Pravaras of Lord and His Consorts were recited by the priests

Bharadwaja Gotram – Lord Venakteswara

Bhargava Gotram     – Goddess Sri Devi

Kasyapa Gotram       – Goddess Bhu Devi

Mangalya Dharana Mahotsavam

The Divine Wedding Ceremony comes to a grand end with, Mangalya Dharana where the Lord Venkateswara tied the Mangala Sutrams to His beloved Consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi.

Varana Mayiram : This is a prominent and most entertaining phase usually performed during South Indian Hindu Weddings. The Lord and His Consorts played with floral balls and coconuts facing each other. (Here the priests and Tallapaka descendent perform this ritual on behalf of the deities). After this the garlands of deities are also exchanged.

Aarti : After the conclusion of the pleasant “Love Game”, the Consorts are seated on either sides of Lord, with Sridevi taking the Right side and Bhudevi occupying the left place of Maha Simhasanam. Now Karpoora Aarati, Nakshatra Aarati and Maha Aarti were rendered marking the grand ending of the Celestial Wedding Ceremony of Lord Malayappa Swamy with His two Consorts-Sri Devi and Bhu Devi.

History of Kalaynotsavam

There are no inscriptions relating to Kalyanotsavam till 1546. It was first introduced by Talapakka Tirumalayyangar. At that time, Kalyanotsavam was conducted in the Tirumamani Mandapam for five days in the month of Panguni.


Arjitha Brahmotsavam in Tirumala

Arjitha Brahmotsavam Seva Start Time: 2:00 P.M

In Arjitha Brahmotsavam, the rituals of Brahmotsavam are performed daily in an abridged manner in the Vaibhavotsava Mandapam that is opposite to the Main temple. Arjitha Brahmotsavam is performed after Kalyanotsavam. Where in Utsava murthi Lord Malayappa Swamy is seated on the Pedda Sesha Vahanam, Garuda Vahanam and Hanumantha Vahanam and is worshipped along with his Consots.


Dolotsavam in Tirumala

Dolotsavam ( Unjal Seva) Start Time: 10:00 A.M

Dolotsavam also called as Unjal Seva (Swing Festival)

In Dolotsavam ritual, the Idols of the Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy and His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi are seated on the Unjal or Swing in the Aina Mahal (Addala Mandapam), that is the Mirror Hall, opposite the Ranganayaka Mandapam.

During Dolotsavam the entire area is lit with lamps. During this ritual, the priests chant vedas to the accompninment of the Mangala Vaadhyam or the sacred musical instruments.


Arjitha Vasanthotsavam In Tirumala

Vasnthotsavam Seva Start Time: 3:30 p.m

Arjitha Vasanthotsavam is a hour-long seva, this seva is performed in the Vaibhava Mandapam. During Arjitha Vasanthotsavam seva, the Idols of the Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy and His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi are given Abhishekam or the Sacred bath with water, milk and honey.  A paste of turmeric and then sandalwood is finally applied. Purusha Suktham, Sri Suktham and Vedic hymns are chanted during the Seva


Sahasra Depalanakara Seva in Tirumala

Sahasra Deepalankara Seva starts at 5:30 p.m in the Unjal Mandapam.

Unjal Mandapam located in the eastern corner of the main temple. The idols of the Lord Sri Venkateswara and His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi are taken out in procession and seated on the swing in the Mandapam. Mandapam is lit with a thousand lamps. The Lord and His Consorts are rocked gently amidst the vedic chanting by the priests and the Singing of Annamayya Songs

      Jun month quota will be released online on 6th May at 11 am. It should be 2 tickets. Please book 2 tickets from 2 login IDs. one ticket from one login id


  2. We are 2 adults and 2 kids (14 years old son and 9 years old daughter). How many tickets are required for Kalyanotsavam?

    • Dear Sir,

      You would need 2 tickets. 2 persons will be allowed on a ticket. So 14 years old needs a ticket, as you can’t book a ticket for single person, you can include your daughter name as the secondary person


  3. My Family is planning to perform Kalyanotsavam on July 22nd 2016. Please let us know the reporting time for Kalyanotsavam, once the tickets are booked online, and how long the seva and Darshan take to complete ?
    Also please mention what (any puja related items etc.,) needs to be carried by Devotees for the Kalyanotsavam ?

      Jul month quota will be released online on 3rd Jun at 11 am. Seva will take 1 hour 15 mins + 25 mins for Darshan. No need to carry any materials.


  4. Can I wear kurtha payjama for kalyanotsavam?
