- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.

We perform this puja in a yagashala located outside the main temple. This puja is performed to cure incurable diseases. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. An astrologer can let you know the auspicious day for this puja. One should take a head bath before the puja. It is advisable to carry an extra set of clothes. Those who are planning to perform this puja should reach Rameswaram a day in advance. The next morning, around 7 a.m., we will start the puja.
