Kumbha Vivaham in Rameswaram is performed daily. An unmarried girl performs this puja. This puja removes the dosha associated with the second marriage. The puja duration is 2 hours. Typically, two to three priests will be performing this ritual. It is advisable to perform this puja on Tuesdays. “Kumbha” means “pot,” and “vivaham” means “marriage.” This puja is also called Vishnu Vivah. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their age. Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Kumbha Vivaham in Rameswaram
Kumbha Vivaham is performed in the morning hours. The puja starts at 8 a.m. An unmarried girl should participate in this puja in traditional wear. One should take a head bath before and after the puja. The girl should discard the clothes worn during the puja. It is advisable to carry an extra set of clothes. Kadali Vivaham should be performed before getting married. This puja vivaham will nullify the dosha arising from a second marriage. Parents’ presence is not mandatory for this puja.
Kumbha Vivaham should be performed where the water flows continuously. Rameswaram Temple is located on the banks of the Bay of Bengal. After the puja, we will break the pot and immerse it in water. Thus making the marriage void. The girl can now marry whoever she wants. As per astrology, a non-manglik person shouldn’t marry a manglik person. The manglik person should rectify this dosha before marrying a non-manglik person. It is advisable to perform Kuja Shanti homa along with Kumbha Vivaham.
