The marriage celebration known as Sashtiapthapoorthi is performed for a couple whose husband has turned 60 and whose 61st year is just starting. This 60th birthday pooja is usually organized by the couple’s children or in-laws, younger brothers or sisters, or relatives. This puja should be performed on the husband’s birth star day. Even singles or unmarried individuals can perform this puja. This puja removes all dosha associated with Apamrityu. It is believed that this puja drives the couple toward spirituality.
