Sila Thoranam History, Tirumala
As per History, Lord Sri Venkateswara came to Tirumala in search of his wife Sri Maha Lakshmi. She had reverence towards the sage Brigu Maharshi, even though the sage had insulted him by kicking Him on the chest, the place where his wife Sri Mahalakshmi was there. He stood at the Top of Tirumala, which is now called SRIPADAM.
On the way down from Sripadam to Tirumala, there is a place called SILA THORANAM. Here natural rock depicts Lord Vishnu’s Sanku, Chakram, Thiruman and his Abhayakaram

Sila Thoranam is believed to be 2500 million years old. Geologists classified this formation as Pre-Cambrian and to be older than the Jurassic Age. It is 25 feet in length, 10 feet in height.
