Preferable Dress code for the Putra Kameshti Yagam

Gents: dhoti (white) and shirt, or kurta and pyjama.
Ladies: Saree or Salwar Kameez (with Pallu Compulsory).
All pilgrims are requested not to wear clothes such as T-shirts, jeans, etc., as the same is strictly prohibited irrespective of any age group.

Puthra Kameshti Yagam procedure

As per the legend, King Dasarath performed this yaga under the supervision of Sage Rishyasringa and was blessed with four children, who are Rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha, and Shatrugna.

It is said that Lord Vishnu shared the Yagam procedure with Sanatkumara, who later shared the knowledge with Sage Bodhayana.

This yagam will be performed with 100 varieties of Ayurvedic plant powder and ghee. All the materials used for Yagam will be procured on Pushyami Star Day.

Instructions to be followed for Putra Kameshti Yagam

It is advised not to take Non-Veg for 3 days before the Pooja.
Not to have Non-Veg after having Prasadam for another 6 months.
Husband and wife can only participate in this yagam.
Offered Prasadam to be consumed by husband and wife.
Women can participate after the 8th day of their menstrual cycle.
This puja can be performed after 12 months if there is a death in their family
