Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple

Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple Thondamanadu, Temple was built by Thondaman Chakravarthy. The brother of Akasaraja. Thondaman ruling Thondamanadu Mandal to the expectations of the people and constructed several Temple. Every day he used to go Tirumala to participate in the service of the Lord.

After attaining the old age. Thondaman expressed his inability to the Lord of travelling to Tirumala to have His Darshan. The Lord after realizing the intention of  Thondaman promised that he Himself will come to his house. For accepting the Pooja Kainkaryams.

Accordingly, The Lord along with Sridevi and Bhu Devi to used to come to the House of Thondaman for accepting the Sevas.  The Lord was called ‘VeetilIrndurai Perumal’ because of the appearance in the house.

Since Thondaman constructed Ananda Nilayam at Tirumala, here at Tondamanadu also the construction of Temple gopuram was constructed in a similar structure.

Lord here can be seen in Abhaya Hastha posture, indicating that the Lord will come to the rescue of the devotees. Nowhere we can find Lord in seating posting with Sri Devi and Bhu Devi and in Abhaya Hastha Posture.

“The hidden meaning is to convey to the devotees that the Lord Sri Venkateswara will come to the rescue of only those who fall at his feet, i.e., total surrender.

Thondaman constructed big tank near the Temple which accumulates the water from Akasaganga of Tirumala. Thondaman made arrangements to perform the Abhishekam Karyams to the Lord with this water only.

This temple was built by King Thondaman and is Currently under the control of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.

Temple Darshan Timings: 6:00 am  – 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm

How to reach Thondamanadu?

  • It is located 35 km away from Tirupati and 9 Km from Sri Kalahasti.
  • Buses which goes to Sri Kalahasti goes via Thondamanadu.
  • Bus frequency is quite from Tirupati Bus station.
