Rudrabhisheka is performed to Lord Shiva in his Rudra form, and all of the Vedic texts mention the importance of this puja. This puja is the best way to eliminate all evil, fulfill all wishes, and make everyone happy. Rudrabhishekam removes sins and problems, brings peace, wealth, and happiness, and strengthens family ties. Devotees usually perform Rudrabhishekam on their “Janma Nakshatra.” Kashi Vishwanath Mandir Rudrabhishek Puja cost varies from Rs. 100 to Rs. 10,000.
Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and shirt or kurta and pyjama.
- Ladies: saree or salwar kameez (with Pallu Compulsory).
- All devotees are requested not to wear clothes such as T-shirts, jeans, etc., as they are strictly prohibited, irrespective of age group.
Kashi Vishwanath Rudrabhishek Timings
- 4:00 a.m.–11:15 a.m.
- 12:20 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
- Rudrabhishek will be performed daily.
Kashi Vishwanath Rudrabhishek Procedure
- While Purohit chants the mantra, the devotee will clean the Linga with his hands by constantly pouring water.
- In Laghu Rudrabhishek, Abhishek will be performed with water from the Ganga and milk. The Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra will be changed 11,111 times. Aarti will be offered to the devotee at the end.
- In Maha Rudrabhishek, Rudrabhishek will be performed for 11 continuous days by 11 Pundits. Abhishek will be performed with water, milk, and Lotus flowers. This pooja will be performed in the morning and evening hours as well.
- Devotees are required to carry the Pooja materials on their own.
- Dakshina, or offering, is an additional cost.
- One ticket is valid for one family only.
- There is no need to pay Dakshina, as charges are already included in the ticket price.

Its nowadays overcrowded due to Kumbh happening in Prayagraj. All devotees who come to Kumbh proceed to Varanasi. Long queue. We went in the first week of February 2019 from Kumbh. Our driver arranged through a shopkeeper to keep our handbags, watches, mobiles in their locker and footwear and also arranged pandas to perform Rudra Abhishekam..it costs Rs.3100/- with all costs included.
