There are old and new Kalyana mandapams in Tirumala. The old Kalyana mandapam will not have an elevator, and rooms are equipped with basic facilities. In contrast, new Kalyana mandapams will have an elevator, parking space, and modernized rooms. Devasthanam hall costs start at Rs. 3900, whereas a mutt hall rental begins at Rs. 15,000. Halls and rooms will not be allotted beyond 24 hours. In such a scenario, the hall and rooms should be booked for two days.

In Tirumala, all Kalyana Mandapams are non-AC, but rooms are available for both AC and non-AC. Rooms are available right at the mandapam. Four to ten members can stay in a room, which depends on the room type. Available room types are standard AC and non-AC rooms, mini-suite AC and non-AC rooms, and suite AC and non-AC rooms. A suite room can accommodate 8 to 10 guests. 15 to 20 vehicles can be parked right before the mandapam. A separate dining hall is available for large-sized kalyana mandapams.

• The bride and groom should be Hindus.

• Bride and Bridegroom must follow Hinduism.
• The bridegroom is 21 years old and the bride must have turned eighteen on the day of marriage.
  Before marriage, certificates of the age of the bride and bridegroom must be submitted to the TTD Authorities (any one of the school Certificates/Birth Certificates/PAN cards/Passport/Driving license).
• A certificate proving the Residential Address of the Bride and Bridegroom (Aadhaar Card or Residential Certificate acquired from the concerned Thasildar) needs to be submitted.
• The bride and Bride Groom parents have to be there at the marriage. If the Father or the mother has expired, the other must come with an Aadhar Card and the death certificate of a departed parent.
• Should both of the parents pass away, Guardians would be allowed, to duly provide the death certificate of the parents along with the Identity (Aadhar Card) proof.
• Second and love marriages are not allowed.
• Unmarried certificates derived from relevant authorities [MRO/Thasildhar] will be generated.
• Marriages might be conducted in groups depending on demand on a given Muhurtham day.

Tirumala Temple History

Another tale is told in the Bhavishyottara Purana and goes like this: Several Rishis gathered on the bank of the Ganges and prepared everything for a Yajna. When Narada arrived, he inquired as to which god they would like to offer Havissu. Sages asked Bhrigu, the guru, to resolve the issue. The sage decided to investigate the three principal deities in order to find a solution. Upon arriving at Brahma Loka, he observed that he was occupied with reciting the Vedas with one mouth, pronouncing the name of Narayana with another, and directing his third face towards Saraswati. He ignored Bhrigu completely. The sage then proceeded to Kailasam. Once more, he discovered Siva totally engaged with his partner, totally unresponsive to Bhrigu’s presence and approach. From this point on, Bhrigu proceeded to Vaikunta, where he discovered Vishnu busy in discussion with Lakshmi. Bhrigu gave Vishnu a hard kick to the chest, looking angry. Without delay, Vishnu stood up, gave Rishi’s foot some pressure, and asked whether there was any damage. Satisfied by Vishnu’s thoughtful attention, Bhrigu went back to the Rishis and suggested that they offer the Yajna as a sacrifice to Vishnu. The reason Lakshmi was upset was that Bhrigu had abandoned Vishnu and gone to Karavirapura, or Kolhapur, Lakshmi’s favorite location on the Lord’s chest. When Vishnu could no longer stand being alone, he left Vaikuntha and roamed the area. He eventually arrived in Seshachala, thought it was interesting enough, and settled down on the mountain in the shape of an anthill near the Swamipushkarini River.

Pilgrims who are 65 years of age and older can avail of free Darshan. For the benefit of older people who are unable to wait in line for extended periods, TTD introduced this darshan. Senior citizen tickets are not yet available in Tirumala for offline booking. Online booking of Darshan tickets will be allowed for Darshan. Darshan tickets must be reserved in advance when the quota for a certain month is announced.

Senior Citizen Darshan reporting

• Reporting place: South Mada Street, near the Bridge, near Tirumala Nambi Temple.
• Reporting time: 1 p.m.
• Darshan start time: 3 p.m.
• Daily ticket quota: 750.

Senior Citizen Darshan Dress Code

• Gents: dhoti (white) and shirt, or kurta and pyjama.

• For Darshan, an Aadhar card for Indians and a passport for NRIs are required while booking.
