Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Asthi Visarjan in Rameshwaram is performed daily. This puja is performed on the ocean’s shores. The puja takes an hour to complete. An astrologer can let you know the auspicious day for this puja. In Rameswaram, we speak Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, and English. The puja will be performed in your native language. Asthi means ashes, and visarjan means dissolving it in the water. During this ritual, a pandit will recite mantras. The puja starts at 7 a.m. One or two priests will perform this ritual.

Asthi Visarjan Procedure in Rameshwaram
ASTHI-VISARJAN is a fundamental religious custom. In the HINDU religion, a dead person is regularly cremated on a funeral pyre where the deceased is placed on logs of flame. These days, most Indian towns have electric or diesel crematoriums. This puja is performed outside the Rameswaram Temple.
According to all Hindu texts, a man’s relationship with his physical body ends when he bites the dust. Then the spirit leaves the body, and where it goes next depends on the combined karma of all his previous lives. The body will eventually unite with God or the ever-existent if it has finished its progress. If not, it is prepared for the next concept. The spirit renews itself many times in different material bodies until it finally finishes its advancement process.
The body, made up of five elements—earth, air, water, fire, etc.—is effectively converted into the elements during the cremation ceremony. What remains are a few bones or powder, which must be placed in their proper location before the ASTHI-VISARJAN ceremony can begin. Cremation releases the body’s gases and other mixtures, which mix with the surrounding air. Rameswaram is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga sthalas. It is believed that the soul will attain Sadgati. All mantras will be recited in Sanskrit. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja.
