Aadi Amavasya Thila Homam in Rameswaram
Thila Homam is performed to remove Pitru dosha. An astrologer can determine the severity of the dosha by looking at your birth kundali. He will also let you know the Japa Sankhya based on the severity. Usually, the count starts at 10,008. To make the preparations, one should let us know about the Japa Sankhya beforehand. The puja duration might increase with the Japa Sankhya. A Brahman can perform this ritual on behalf of a female. It is advisable to perform this puja on any Amavasya for effective results. One should discard the clothes worn during this ritual. We don’t suggest fasting for the elderly and children. The word “thila” means sesame seeds, and “homam” means offering seeds through the fire. The souls of the departed ancestors find peace through these offerings. Rameswaram should be reached the day before. This puja can be performed without checking with an astrologer.
