Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Chandi Homam in Gokarna is performed daily. The puja duration is 3 hours. This puja is performed in a yagashala outside the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their age. This puja generates positive energy and removes obstacles. It removes Graha dosha and blesses the family with abundant fortune. One should take a head bath before the puja. During this ritual, three forms of the goddess, Lakshmi, Parvati, and Saraswati, will be invoked. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. The puja starts at 8 a.m. It is advisable to perform this puja on a Moola nakshatra day.

Different Types of Chandi Homam
- Nava Chandi Homam will be performed with 11 priests. It is a one-day puja.
- Shatha Chandi Homam will be performed with 40 to 50 priests. This puja usually takes 2-3 days to complete.
- Sahasra Chandi Homam will be performed with 200 to 300 priests. This puja usually takes 4 to 5 days to complete.
- Ayutha Chandi Homam will be performed with 1000 to 1200 priests. This puja usually takes 7 to 8 days to complete.
Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from dressing in jeans and T-shirts.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Chandi Homam Procedure in Gokarna
A simple chandi homam might take 3 to 4 hours. During Nava Chandi homam, Durga Saptahati parayanam will be chanted 9 times. The Durga Saptashati parayanam is chanted 101 times during the Shatha Chandi homam, 1,001 times for the Sahasra Chandi homam, 10,001 times for the Ayuta Chandi homam, and 100,001 times for the Prayuta Chandi homam. The puja duration depends on the mantra chants. Experienced priests perform this ritual. It is best to arrive in Gokarna one day in advance.
It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. We don’t suggest fasting for the elderly, children, or pregnant women. The puja duration depends on the Chandi homam type. It is advisable to perform this puja during the Navaratri festival days. One should perform this puja with utmost devotion and sincerity.
