The 60th marriage in Rameswaram is performed daily. The puja lasts for about 3-4 hours. The 60th marriage, Shastipoorthi, or Shastiapthapoorthi, is performed inside the temple. Two to three priests will perform this ritual. “Shasti” means sixty, and “aptha poorthi” means complete. This ritual is performed after completing sixty years. The couple can perform this puja once the husband turns sixty. This puja can be performed if the wife reaches sixty years of age. It is still possible for single people to perform this puja after sixty years. The puja starts at 7.30 a.m. We supply the puja articles required for the ritual. Usually, family members or relatives organize this puja.
We offer online puja services for those who are unable to attend. The puja will be livestreamed through the video call. The puja duration depends on the number of kalasas established. Usually, 11, 16, 32, and 64 will be set up during the ritual. This ritual should be performed during the 61st year. Even a single woman can perform this ritual after sixty years of age. At Rameswaram, this puja is performed on the temple premises. We speak Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English. The puja will be performed in your native language. The 60th marriage can be performed in a day or two, depending on the kalasas.
