Rameshwaram Thila Homam: Cost, Benefits, and Procedure
The story of the beautiful Rameshwaram Temple goes back to the time of Tretayuga. There is a feeling of godliness and holiness in this holy place in Tamil Nadu. The Ramanathaswamy Temple, which is also called the Rameshwaram Temple, is the most famous place on the cute little Rameswaram Island. People think that Lord Rama meditated here to make up for killing Lord Ravana. People believe that killing Ravana, who was a Brahmin, was one of the worst things that could be done. As the Lord was going back to Ayodhya from Sri Lanka, he chose to ask Shiva, the Lord of Lords, to forgive him. There was no figure or idol of Lord Shiva in Rameshwaram, so he asked the noble Lord Hanuman to bring the holy statue from the Himalayas.
Because Hanuman was taking too long to come back, Lady Sita built the holy shrine of Shiva out of sand from the shore. After that, when Hanuman Ji came back from the Himalayas with the Shiva Lingam, it was also put in place near the shrine. So, the holy temple has two lingams: the Ramalingam, which was built by Lady Sita, and the Vishwalingam, which Lord Hanuman brought from the Great Kailash.
