Which idol should be chosen for Naga Pratishta?
Both Sastra and astrology warn that it is harmful to watch snakes mating, and as a result, it is prohibited. The installation of idols in the form of coitus (mating) is not advisable. These idols should not be used for pratishtapana or idol installation. Additionally, the height of the idol shouldn’t exceed the primary deity in the sanctum sanctorum of a temple. According to Sanatan Vedic astrology, the idols that are selected should be a pair of snakes with their heads facing toward the devotees.

A minimum of 7 days of booking is advisable, as pooja slots are limited on any day. Two priests will be performing the puja.
When should I perform Naga Pratishta?
- This puja should not be performed by pregnant women
- Women can perform this puja after the 8th day of their menstrual cycle.
- Men cannot perform this puja for another year if there is a death in the family.
- It is not advisable to perform this pooja either by husband or wife if they are undergoing treatment related to pregnancy. In such a case, please perform this puja before the treatment for effective results.
