Chandragiri Fort Tirupati

This fort was constructed before 1000 years. At that period the place where this fort is located was in the Vijayanagar Empire. In the ancient period, two powerful states namely Kolathunadu and Thulunadu were existing and a river which crossing both the states was considered a border line for both the sates. At the time of declining of Vijayanagar Empire, the value of two states also started declining and one of the powerful kings from Nayaka dynasty Shivappa Nayaka sworn as ruler of the area. He was the man behind construction of various forts in his Empire and Chandragiri fort was among various forts constructed by King Shivappa Nayaka. The area where this fort is located is very scenic and full of natural beauty. Dense forestry, greenery and adventurous treks to the fort are very interesting for visitors even after 1000 years too. This place is geographically located in Eastern Ghats. The region, where this fort s located is also populated with other historical buildings. Various famous temples like, Srivari-Mettu, Srinivasa-Mangapuram and Agasthreeswara are some famous example where regular and huge crowding is seen. All these temples are belonging to Lord Shiva and in the entire South India; Lord Shiva is the main deity of maximum temples. Near this fort, Swarnmukhi River has its origin point. In this fort, there is a Raja Mahal is also located. Earlier this area was in the command and control power of Yadava Naidua and later merged into Vijayanagar Empire during 1367. After some time, Mahamandaleshwara of the area, Saluva Narasimha Rayulu powered his Prime Minister Chitti Gangarayulu to look after all the affairs related with the empire. Chiiti Gangarayulu was an excellent administrator and for his brilliance, he was also given the title of Bhishm Pitamah of that time. The administrative quality of Gangarayulu, proved him the best and the Empire grown speedily. Chandragiri was made the capital of Vijayanagar Empire and at that time, the Sultan of Golkunda attacked on Penukonda. In the period of 1646, an annexee towards Golkunda attached to this fort and later the same came into Mysore territory. Around this temple, there were more than eight hundred temples of Shaiva and Vaishnava community. Still there are the ruins of Raja Mahal and Rani Mahal is found. In the Raja Mahal, a museum of archeological importance is presently being operated.

Sadasiva Kona Puttur

SadaSiva Kona Distance: 45 Km from Tirupati

The Sadasiva Kona is one of the best Tourism places nearby Tirupati which is situated at a distance of 10 km from Majjiga Gunta on Puttur-Tirupati route. The place with lofty mountain peaks, thick forests and a picturesque waterfall is a unique one. Sadasiva is the presiding deity. Apart from the serene natural atmosphere of the hill, it is also know for producing a variety of medicinal herbs. Hence, a bath in the water fall is believed to cure chronic diseases.

The temple dedicated to Lord Sadasiva, was constructed by the rulers of Karveti Nagar who worshipped Kamakshi Bameta Sadasiva during festivals. Ammavari Kona and Ayyavari Kona are located near the temple. The water from these valleys flow together at a place where Pushkarini is formed. A dip in this Pushkarini too is believed to cure a person from diseases and sin.

Talakona Falls

TalaKona Falls Distance: 49 Km from Tirupati

With a height of 270 feet, it is the tallest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh. At a distance of 49 KM from Tirupathi, 220 KM from Chennai and 105 Kms from Chittore, Talakona Falls are situated at a distance of 23 KM from Bakarapeta which is the nearest town.

The waterfalls are placed amidst dense forest surrounded by natural beauty and greenery. It is believed that the water of Talakona Falls is enriched with herbs wit healing powers. Talakona was declared as Bio-Sphere Reserve in 1989-90 because of wide variety of plant species present in the region. Talakona means ‘head hill’ in Telugu. This place is believed to be the starting point of ‘Seshachalam Hills’ which are extended till Tirumala.

There is a temple near the falls called Lord Siddeswara Swamy Temple. This temple is believed to be built by a devotee named Appa Swamy in 1811 AD. This Temple Attracts large number of devotees during Mahashivaratri.

The falls have to be reached by 2 Kms trek from Siddeswara Swamy Temple which is nearest motorable road to the falls. The duration of the trek is about 30 minutes (one way) through dense forest and slippery road.

Kaigal Falls

Kaigals Falls Distance: 128 Km from Tirupati

Best season to visit is between July and October during the peak rain season.

It is popularly known as Kaigal falls in reference to the Kaigal village situated about 2.5 kilometres from the Falls. Locally the falls is called as Dumukuralla Water Falls. The Telugu name Dumukurallu water falls came into Prominence because of its sound resembling the fall of stones from above.

The waterfall is natural, perennial and water comes from a big rock at a height of 40 ft and flow is irrespective of seasons. But water force and beauty is increased during the annual Monsoon season. Gurramkonda is a historical place located between Kadapa and the Bengaluru highway near Madanapalle in Chittoor district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Gurramkonda is a mandal headquarters.

History
Gurramkonda is a Hill-Fort town whose historical name was Zafarabad. It hosted over forty mosques, all since destroyed. One Sufi saint named Hazrath Shah Kamal came from Kirman of Old Persia and settled here. He taught Islam to the locals, spreading it throughout the village and its surroundings.

It was a fort town for the Vijayanagara kingdom under King Sree Krishna Deva Raya. The name came because the rulers rode horses to reach their palace at the top of the steep hill. Konda means Hill and Gurram means Horse.

There is also a tomb for Tippu Sultan’s maternal uncle Maqbeera, similar to most Islamic tombs built in India.

Local lore states that a large deposit of diamonds and precious rocks were spread by the king across the hill when the kingdom was attacked. Even now, locals believe treasure is hidden around the foot of the hill.

Kalyani Dam Tirupati

Kangundi Fort Kuppam

History of Kangundi Fort Kuppam

Kuppam area was ruled by Kangundi Zameendarrs from 1066 AD to 1950 AD. There is a historical place called Kangundi 25 Km away from Kuppam, which has fort, where from the Zameendars ruled the area. They were known as Kangundi  Zameendars. About 28 rulers established Zameendars system in about 360 villages. Until the system was abolished all the Zameendars lived in Kangundi fort only.

Kangundi Fort is 120 Km south west of chittoor. Half way up is a cave filled with the bones and horns of cattle.

Kangundi Fort is located on the scenic Kuppam-Vijalapuram route. It is about 16 kilometers from Kuppam. The site is renowned for the ruins of the 11 century Kangundi Fort. A temple is located on top of the hill, which celebrates the Hindu festival of Shivratri with a special pooja. This celebration attracts locals as well as people from the neighboring villages and towns.

There is no direct transportation to this place,  One should start walking from Papanaidu Peta.

Papanaidu peta is near to Renigunta and little far from Tirupati. A.P.S.R.T.C runs bues to Papanaidu Peta from Renigunta and Tirupati ( at less frequency). Share Autos runs to Papanaidu Peta at high frequency from Renigunta Junction.

Ubbalamadugu falls Tada

Ubbalamadugu falls Tada is near Varadaiah Palem Village. Ubbalamadugu forest which spreads over Varadaiahpalem and Buchinaidu Kandriga mandals is interesting picnic spot. It is located to the North of SriCity in Chittoor district. This falls continues to lure youth from all parts of South India. It is the best picnic spot during Summer when water flow is normal. Usually trekkers prefer climbing Rock hills at Ubbalamadugu falls for best view from top. While in winter flow will be high and security over there will not allow for trekking due to safety reasons. The falls are located in a forest called Siddulaiah kona. Lord siva is located here, Maha sivaratri festival is celebrated here in a grand.

How to reach Ubbalamadugu  falls?

  1. Direct bus runs at low frequency to Varadaiah Palem, instead one can board Tirupati – Chennai, bus route : Tirupati- Sri Kalahasti – Varadaiahpalem – Tada – Chennai. You can get down at Varadaiahpalem.
  2. From Varadaiahpalem, share autos, mini cabs runs to Ubbalamadugu Forest entrance. Which is at 7 km from VaradaiahPalem.
  3. From forest entrance grate falls is at 3 km, falls located next to siva temple.
  4. For safety reasons, one can stop here. During winter rocks will be slippery.
  5. During summer, one can step forward to reach next falls which is at 2 km away from Siva temple. Attention is not required, as rocks quite huge. Security staff is deployed here for safety reasons.
  6. Tada falls is 72 km from Tirupati, 35 km from Sri Kalahasti and  97 km from Chennai.
  7. From chennai, it is same route in reverse direction. Chennai – Tada route – Varadaiahapalem.

Ganganna Sirassu Falls Nellipatla near Palamner, which is located at Koundinya Wild Life Sanctuary. Here, Water falls from a height of 600 ft. Nellipatla is a village near Sanctuary, falls is located at a distance of 5 km from the village. Palamner is at the border of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

      After reaching talokona to visit falls you need to walk for 5 km up so if you are ok with this then you can plan.

      Appalayagunta is 20 km away from tirupathi there is abhaya hastha venkateshwara swamy temple. buses are available from bus stand
