Tiruchanur is the sacred place of Goddess Lakshmi. With great holy enthusiasm and excitement, the priests are performing this “Magha Sapthami Parva” magnificently. To bless the devotees, Sri Padmavathi Devi adorns seven vahanams on this day. Following the completion of all of Goddess Padmavathi’s “Vahana sevas,” the “Agama Shastra” tradition performs “Chakra Snanam.” According to the inscriptions, these Rathasaptami celebrations have been observed as “Ardha (half) Brahmotsavams” since 1564.

It is well known that twelve names praise Lord Surya. The ancient sages clarified the origin of these names’ attribution to Him.

  1. Mitra: The world considers Lord Surya to be a friend. The great ‘darshan’ of Lord Surya in nature is what all living things desire. Even though they dislike the sun, some birds, like ostriches, cannot survive without its rays. Sri Mayurakavi praised the Lord, saying that he can bestow the grace of the Lord in the form of longevity, prosperity, witty poetry, sharp mind, bright physique, long life, reputation, and health if he receives the ‘darshan’ of the Lord Surya and does good actions.
  2. Ravi: Everyone devotes several “Sthotras” to Lord Surya. Thus, he goes by Ravi. He preached the Vedas to Lord Brahma, who was born from the navel of Lord Vishnu in the form of a lotus. Lord Surya is therefore ‘Vedavyaapaka.’
  3. Surya: All living things are made to work by Lord Surya.
    He is the world’s creator and inspiration.
  4. Bhanu: The earth is filled with the rays of Lord Surya. All living things worship Him for His brilliant rays. His bright rays charge the entire universe.
  5. Khagudu: In the wide sky, Lord Surya sits and beams. He becomes known as Lord Suryanarayana in heaven and governs the universe.
  6. Poosha: With His luminous light, He is feeding the entire universe. It implies that the Lord feeds the earth, who also bestows prosperity on nature. Food is essential to humankind and is the foundation of life. Lord Surya creates the foundation and provides nourishment for the coming generation.
  7. Hiranyagarbha: Lord Surya will turn everyone into gold and hold them in His stomach until the last great devastation of the world. He will release them into the world after the disaster.
  8. Mareechi: A Mareechiman possesses a group of luminous beams. He can drive out darkness and heal all manner of illnesses that are similar to foes. He is the Paramatma with the conch, lotus, mace, and chakra.
  9. Adithya: Lord Surya is a great blessing to the world. It implies that Lord Surya is in charge of everything. It is the Lord who gives everything its shine. He makes numerous offerings for the good of humanity.
  10. Savitru: Lord Surya gives all the creatures he has created life and happiness.
  11. Arka: Lord Surya is the first to receive human petitions.
    Therefore, Surya Namaskarams are the most well-liked since they bestow their believers’ prosperity, health, and spiritual experiences.
  12. Bhaskara: All people can glimpse the outside world because of Lord Surya’s blessing.
    Worshiping Lord Surya also helps us grasp many of the enigmatic things in the world.
    Lord Surya goes by many powerful and enigmatic names. They have deep, deeper connotations. It is recommended to recite these twelve potent names of Lord Surya, if nothing else, on the day of Surya Jayanthi or Rathasapthami. Let us offer prayers to Lord Surya to be saved. Let us accomplish the day’s auspicious ceremonies with success, Rathasapthami.

  • Surya Prabha Vahanam between 7:15 am and 8:15 am
  • Hamsa Vahanam: 8.45 am to 9.45 am
  • Aswa Vahanam: 10.15 am to 11.15 am
  • Garuda Vahanam: 11.45 am to 12.45 pm
  • Chinna Sesha Vahanam: 1.15 pm to 2.15 pm
  • Snapana Thirumanjanam: 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm
  • Chandra Prabha Vahanam: 6 pm to 7 pm
  • Gaja Vahanam: 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm

Devasthanam has canceled Abhisheka Anantara Darshan, Lakshmi Puja, Arjita Kalyanotsavam, Kumkumarchana, Break Darshan, Unjalaseva, and Vedasirvachanam held in Tiruchanur temple.

At the sub-shrine of Sri Suryanarayana Swamy, the deity will bless the devotees between 6 am and 7 am on the day of Surya Jayanti.
