Penchalakona Marriage Procedure, Hall Cost, Booking
Lord Vishnu appears as Penusila Narasimha Swamy, Lord Narasimha, in his lion-man form. It is believed that the Lord Vishnu manifested here as a huge rock in Yoga Mudra (a meditation pose). This village is in the district of Raipur in the city of Nellore. It’s 70 km away from Nellore, the town. This temple is named Sri Penusila Narasimha Swamy at Penchalakona. It is at the base of a hill. It is believed that Kanva Maharshi did his penance here.
Another legend says that Lord Vishnu was wandering in the forest after killing the demon Hiranyakashyapa. The goddess Lakshmi appeared as a beautiful Chenchu woman to pacify Ugra Narasimha. She calmed him down and then hugged him, saying “Penu Vesukonuta” in Telugu. It was called “PENUSILA” back then.
