Naga Pratishtapana in Srirangapatna is performed outside the main temple. The puja duration will be 4 to 5 hours. This puja can be performed in a day or two. Typically, four to five pandits will perform this puja ritual. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their age. One should perform this puja with utmost devotion. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. One should take a head bath before the puja.

Puja Instructions
- One should refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food for three days before the puja.
- A woman can perform this puja after the fifth day of her menstrual cycle.
- A pregnant woman cannot perform this puja.
- A husband cannot perform this puja if his wife is pregnant.
- If there is any death in the family, then this puja can be performed after six months.
- One can perform this puja for their family members.

Auspicious days for this puja are Naga Panchami, Ashlesha Star day, Panchami, Purnima, and Dwadasi. In the one-day Naga Pratishtapana Pooja, Sarpa Samskara will not be performed; only Ashlesha Bali Pooja will be performed. Whereas, in a two-day puja, Sarpa Samskara will be performed.
