Khajuraho Vishvanatha Temple History, Timings, Darshan

This temple was built by the King Dhanga in the 11th Century AD. This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and is located between Lakshmana and Kandariya Temple. This temple falls under Western Group of temples and is part of UNESCO Heritage sites. Temple was built in Nagara style using Sandstone.

The Sanctum Sanctorum has the shrines of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Parvati.  Huge Nandi statue which is 6 ft is located right opposite to the temple. Images of Elephants were carved on the Southern gate and Lion on the Northern gate. From the inscriptions, it is known that there supposed to be 80 temples but it is 25 now. The temple measures 87 ft x 46 ft.

From the inscriptions, it is known that King Dhangadeva installed two Lingas which is Stone and Emerald. Emerald Linga is missing in the temple.
