Khajuraho Kandariya Mahadeva Temple History, Timings, Route Info
This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built by the King Ganda during 1025 – 1050 AD. This temple falls under Western Group which is a UNESCO world heritage. This is the largest temple of all temples in the complex with 31 mt tall Garbha Griha. The temple structure looks like a Huge Siva Linga. Temple consists of Ardha Mandapam, Maha Mandapam, Antarala and Garbha Griha. The Idols of four-armed Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu are seen in Garbha Griha.
