Kapileswara Swamy Pavitrotsavam, Date, Timings. According to the Shastras, Pavitrotsavams are held each passing year to restore the sanctity of the temple by washing away the sins committed all year long by the visiting devotees as well as the temple staff through Aalaya Sudhi and Punyahavachanam. This ritual is performed seeking the pardon of the Lord for the possible acts of all omissions and commissions committed either knowingly or unknowingly by the priests or temple officials during the performance of daily rituals to the presiding deity inside the temple.
