Ghati Subramanya Temple is known for Naga Kshetra. Devotees offer prayers to Lord Subramanya and pour milk in the anthill located right opposite to the temple. Temple is known for Naga Pratistha, Kuja (Mars) Dosha Nivarana Pooja, Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Poojas.

Ghati Subramanya Temple Legends

As per the Legends, Ghati is the place where Lord Subramanya performed a strict penance in the guise of a serpent. He did penance on these hill ranges before battling with the demon Tharakasura. It is the same place where Lord Subramanya prayed Lord Narasimha Swamy to offer protection for the Naga’s family from the mighty Garuda. Garuda the divine vehicle of Lord Vishnu is known for his enmity towards Serpent family.

Lord Narasimha Swamy and Lord Subramanya Swamy self-manifested here on a single idol. Where Lord Narasimha facing West and Lord Subramanya facing east in a seven hooded serpent form. A mirror is placed little above to reflect the image of Lord Narasimha.

The word Ghati was derived from Sanskrit, which means pot. A serpent’s hood resembles that of a pot and it is the place where the Lord lived in the form of a Seven hooded Sanke. It is believed that this is the place where Lord Subramanya killed the demon Ghatikasura.

Ghati Subramanya Temple History

As per the temple records, temple has a history more than 600 years. This temple was built by Ghorpade from Sandur dynasty. It is believed that Lord appeared in the dreams of the King and revealed his whereabouts. King with the help of staff and villagers uncovered the self-manifested idol.

Ghati Subramanya Temple Abhishekam will be performed daily between 8:30 am – 9 :00 am. Advance booking not available. It is on arrival ticket purchase over the counter. Plan to be there an hour in advance.


Food Arrangements

Temple Administration is performing Free Annadhanam daily for the lunch.

    How to Reach: Direct bus to majestc to Doddaballapura and doddaballapura to ghatti total fare will be 150/- person, from Doddaballapura you have bus and share Auto (share Auto price is 20/-person).

    Sarpa Samskara Pooja details:
    3500/- pooja fare
    cloths men and women
    Men:-New white panche,shalya & under garments.
    Women:-Wear any colour sarees or chudidar but dont wear black or red colour cloth and also in it.
    Pooja Timings:-
    1st day:10:00 or 10:30am to 12:30 ( 2 hours) and after pooja food will be served, please eat and go home, room or you can stay in temple. Don’t eat rice on the first day of pooja night.
    2nd day:-09:50am to 11:30am (1 and half hour) Pooja, Poojari will tell the procedure and pooja should be done till the result.

    Note:- Saturday, Sunday,Tuesday temple will be rush, Try to avoid these days and weekends.
    Senior Citizens please eat and go to pooja, don’t be in hunger.
    Everyone one don’t rush pooja will be seen and will be done in big hall, 1st day the rush will be more.
    2nd day rush will be less in pooja hall.
    Purchase new panche,shalya and under gaments, after pooja need to take bath and leave the new cloths
    and wear the washed cloths.
    2nd day wear wash panche and shalya for pooja and will give you prasadam after pooja.
