Chandi Homam in Kanchipuram is performed daily. The puja duration is 5-6 hours. Typically, five to six priests will be performing this ritual. During this ritual, 13 chapters of Parayanam will be performed. It will take about four hours to recite all 700 slokas. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their age. This puja is performed individually. We don’t perform group pujas or Samuhika Pujas. The puja starts at 8.00 a.m. One should take a head bath before the puja. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. You can perform this puja on any day. Moola Nakshatra is preferable for this puja. This puja is generally performed on Sharada Navaratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Vasantha Navaratri
We offer online puja services for those who are unable to attend. The puja will be livestreamed through the video call. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. Panchami, Sapthami, Ashtami, Purnima, and your birth star day are preferable for this puja. Other auspicious days are Navami, Chaturdasi, Magha Amavasya, Jyeshta Amavasya, Chitra, and Kartika Pournami.

Puja Dress Code
- Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
- Ladies: saree.
- Regardless of age group, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from wearing clothing such as T-shirts and jeans.
Instructions to be followed
- Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
- If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
- One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
- Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.
Chandi Homam Procedure in Kanchipuram
After invoking Chandika in a Kalasa, the Durga Saptashati will be chanted. A coconut will be placed on top of the kalasa once it has been filled with water and Pacha Karpuram. Different kalasas will be used to invoke the Goddess, Ganapati, the Ashta Bhairavas, the Navagrahas, and the Ashta Dikpalakas. Kindly note that this puja is not performed in the Kanchi Kamakshi temple. We provide all the necessary puja articles for the ritual. Even newborn babies can perform this puja, as it removes Balarishta Dosha. It is advisable to perform this puja during Navaratri days.
