Chandi Devi Temple Haridwar History
As per the legend, Goddess Chandi Devi killed Chanda Munda The Commander-In-Chief for the Demon King Shumbh and Nishubhma at this place. This temple is located on top of Neel Parvat and was built by the Kashmir King Suchat Singh during 1929 AD.
It is said that Adi Sankaracharya consecrated the Idol here in 8th Century AD. This temple is located on the banks of the River Ganga. Temple can be reached by steps path which is 3 km from Chandighat or by the ropeway path.
Goddess Chandi Devi is another form of Goddess Durga. This Temple will be thronged with hundreds of devotees during Navaratri festival days.
Ropeway Timings: 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
Dress Code: Any decent outfit.
