Thirumanancheri Temple Pooja for Marriage Procedure, Timings, and Cost

Lord Shiva was the only person Parvathi wanted to marry. Her prayers were heard after performing penance for years. The place where Parvathi performed penance was called “Thirumanancheri” after the marriage. The word “Thirumanan” in Tamil means “marriage.” A village is what “Cheri” means. In this case, Thirumanancheri means the place where weddings happen. Shiva married Parvathi, who is called “Kokilambal,” as “Kalyanasundareswarar.” The word “kuyil” means the nightingale and the protector of beautiful birds. She is also known as Parvathasundari. The Kalyanasundareswarar temple is also known as the Udhavaganathar temple because of this.

Other legends say that Shiva and Parvati fought while they were playing dice. During a heated argument, Shiva turned his wife into a cow. As expected, he started to feel bad about what he had done and asked Mahavishnu to help him take back Goddess Parvathi’s female form. Vishnu took on the form of a cowherd to protect his “sister.” Thereafter, he broke the curse in a place called “Thiruvaduthurai.” She bathed in the Kaveri River and then moved here to live as Bharatha Muni’s daughter. Thereafter, the muni gave the girl to Lord Shiva. The Lord Shiva asked her to marry him again, this time at the place that is now called “Thirumanancheri.”

Thirumanancheri Temple Pooja Timings for Marriage

Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the priest performs marriage poojas. On Saturdays and Sundays, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. On days of the Kalyana Muhurtham, there may be more than 1,500 people, split into groups of 120 devotees. On average, it takes about an hour to do one pooja batch. This temple is one of the few that doesn’t follow any of the other kalams (Rahu, Yama, Kuligai, Ashtami, Navami, etc.).

Purchase an Archana ticket and a pooja set inside the temple for the marriage pooja.

It comes with clay lamps and ghee.

Offer prayers to Selva Ganapathy first.

Worship Lord Shiva, and then go to the right side to find Amman Sannithi.

First, light the ghee lamps in front of the main deity.

Only those who want to marry or will marry soon can do group poojas after this. People who are with them should wait outside.

If you are a parent doing a pooja for your child, you should let the teacher know.

Thirumanancheri Temple Pooja Procedure for Marriage

It is said that married couples who have been split up for any reason can go to Thirumanancheri to get back together and ask for His blessings on their reunion. For these spouses, a special puja is held.

After the first round of poojas concludes, securely store the garlands you received in your pooja room. When you get married, go back to the temple to drop your garland into the temple pond.

Puja articles for Marriage Pooja

Two garlands

Two coconuts

Turmeric: 50 g

Kumkum: 50 g

Camphor: 1 packet

Plantain leaves: 2 Nos

Betel leaves: 4 Nos

Areca nuts: 4 Nos

Lemon: 1

Jaggery: 100 g

After your pooja, carry the lemon home. The next day, after a bath, put on your garland. Then, squeeze the lemon to get the juice, which doesn’t have any salt or sugar in it. People who aren’t married shouldn’t drink this juice. The coconut halves, on the other hand, can be used to cook food for the whole family.

If you are a girl who is not married, you can keep the vibhuti, kumkum, and turmeric for at least one full Mandalam (45 days). Nobody else should use these. It is a practice for married couples to not eat non-vegetarian food for one Mandalam. You might want to say your prayers to the priest to make sure.

A female devotee can perform this puja after the eighth day of their menstrual cycle. One can perform this puja after the 12th month if someone has died in the family. Swayamvara Parvathi Homam will be performed at this temple as well.
