Morgaon Ganpati Temple, History, Timings, Darshan and Pooja details

Morgaon Ganpati History

Temple is located on the banks of the River Karha. As per the Legend, Lord Ganesh killed the demon Sindhu at this place. It is the first among the Ashta Vinayaka Temple. Lord is seen here with Mayur Vehicle, Hence the name Mayureshwar. It is believed that Lord Brahma installed the Lord Ganapati Idol here. Pandavas worshipped the deity during Vanavas. Lord manifested here with his consorts Siddhi and Buddhi.

There is an interesting story attached with Nandi statue opposite to the deity. The devotees from Yavat ordered Nandi Statue for Bhuleshwar temple. The cart broke down while crossing the temple and the statue landed on the ground. All their efforts went vain in lifting the Idol, It is said that Nandi chooses to stay here.

As per the Legend, Brahma relieved from the sin after taking a holy dip in the Turiya Tirth. Brahma requested Tirth to stay in his Kamandalu. Lord Ganesh already granted her wish to stay near Ganesh. Lord Brahma while circumambulating Mayureshwar, he felled upon the Kamandalu and the force threw tirth water few miles away and started flowing. Brahma realised the mistake and thought of collecting the water into the Kamandalu. Lord Ganesh asked him not to do so, hence Karha started flowing near the temple.

The temple will be thronged with thousands of devotees on Bhadrapada Suddha Chaturthi and Magha Chaturthi days.
