Ayush Homam for a newborn in Thirukadaiyur

Ayush Homam is dedicated to the Life God to extend our lifespan—Ayush, i.e., life. The sage Bodhayana in the Bodhayana sutras defines homam. The Bodhayana states that if a child is continuously sick, this homam could be done once a month until the child reaches good health. Generally speaking, however, this is carried out just within the first year of birth—that is, on the day of childbirth’s Nakshatra. The day the child turns one-year-old marks this homam. Should one find themselves unable on this day, it can be completed the next month. One might do it even once a month. The bad effects resulting from the day of the fortnight (Thithi), day of the week (Vara), and the constellation (nakshatra-star) are eliminated by doing the Ayush Homam. It grants excellent health, wealth, and lifespan. It is observed that the execution of this homam heals several of the common diseases that cannot be diagnosed with mainstream medications.
