Legend of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Tarigonda
Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Idol was installed by Sage Dhurvasa, he also established Dharma Peetam using his spiritual powers.
During the Chola period, there lived a cowherd by name Ramanaidu in ChittiCherla near BakaraPeta, who used to take Cattle to Tari Kunda forest area for feeding. One fine day, during the process of taking cattle to Tari Kunda forest, he found the Idol of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in a nearby cave, which is South to Tari Kunda Village. Rama Naidu then built the Temple for Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Gradually Thari Kunda turned into Tarigonda.
As the name ‘Tarigonda’ rings a bell, it is the native place of the revolutionary saint-poetess Tarigonda Vengamamba, who made compositions on Lord Venkateswara.
