Gokarna Pitru Dosha Pooja: Cost, Timing, and Booking

Gokarna Pitru Dosha Pooja is performed daily. The puja lasts for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours. This puja is performed in a yagashala outside the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple. An elder from the family should perform this puja. One can perform Sankalpa and Havan during this ritual. In the end, if the elder is not present for the puja, a Brahmin can perform these last rites. This puja includes Pinda Pradhan, which should not be performed by the family members when an elder is alive. A woman can participate in this ritual and perform Sankalpa and Havan. One should take a head bath before the puja. We speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English. The puja will be performed in your native language. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their dosha. This puja is performed to appease the ancestors’ souls.

We offer online puja services for those who are unable to attend. The puja will be livestreamed through the video call. One should join the video call to perform Sankalpa. One should wear light-colored clothes for this ritual. “People should come for this puja with a sari, blouse piece, and coconut. In the end, there will be a sari and a blouse piece as part of Sumangali Dhan. The puja starts at 6 a.m. on an Amavasya day. During Pitru Paksha, the puja starts at 5 a.m. The puja will commence on Mahalaya Amavasya day at 3.30 am. On other days, the puja starts at 8.30 a.m. This puja will be performed individually for your family members. We don’t perform samuhika or group pujas.

Puja Dress Code

  • Gents: dhoti (white) and upper cloth.
  • Ladies: saree.
  • We respectfully ask all devotees, regardless of age, to avoid wearing T-shirts and jeans.

Instructions to be followed

  • Women can participate in this puja after the fifth day of their menstrual cycle.
  • If there is any death in the family, one should perform the puja after 3 months.
  • One should stop consuming non-veg and alcohol for another 11 days after the puja.
  • Three days before the puja, one should abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian foods.

Gokarna Pitru Dosha Pooja Procedure

In Gorkana, we perform the Moksha Narayanabali puja along with the Thila Homam. A single person or a couple can perform this puja. It is advisable to fast while performing this puja. We don’t suggest fasting for the elderly and children. Thila Homam is performed to remove Pitru dosha, which is an ancestral curse. An astrologer can inform you about the Thila homam japa sankhya. The severity of the dosha determines the Japa Sankhya.
