Kanipakam Sankatahara Ganapati Vratham: Timings, Puja dates, cost, and Procedure

Kanipakam Sankatahara Ganapati Vratham is performed on Sankatahara Chaturthi days only. The puja duration is 1 hour. The word Sankata means difficulties, Hara means removes, and Chaturthi means 4th day. Sankatahara Chaturthi falls on the 4th day after Purnima. Sankatahara Ganapati Vratham is performed on Sankatahara Chaturthi day at Kanipakam Temple. There is no limit on the entry as tickets are unlimited; usually, 250 to 400 members will be participating in this Vratham.

Ticket cost: Rs. 350 per person.
The ticket cost includes: Two coconuts, flowers, turmeric, kumkum, rice, and other puja essentials
Please purchase two lamps from the counter outside.
The puja duration is 1 hour.
There is no age limit for performing this puja.
Puja is performed outside the temple in a mandap, followed by the deity Darshan.
Puja is performed in two batches, which are 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Dress code:

Gents: dhoti (white) and shirt or kurta and pyjama.
Ladies: saree or salwar kameez (with Pallu Compulsory).
All devotees are requested not to wear clothes such as T-shirts, jeans, etc., as they are strictly prohibited, irrespective of age group.

Kanipakam Sankatahara Ganapati Vratham

Rush will be high, as performing Ganapathi Vratham is auspicious.
Sankalpam will be performed in the beginning.
The priest will be running through the pooja procedure.
This Vratham is performed for the group of devotees.
It is advisable to perform this Vratham in the evening hours, i.e., 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
As the Vratham Vidhanam itself mentions, performing in the evening hours after moonrise is beneficial.
It is said that one should perform this puja at least once a year for good results.
From the Vedic texts, it is known that goddess Parvati performed this puja seeking Lord Siva as her husband.
One should chant “Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” during this Vratham.
