This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. It is believed that one must Visit Umanand temple before Kamakhya Mandir Darshan.

Temple is located in an island on Brahmaputra river. This temple can be reached by Ferry from Guwahati

Boat Boarding Point: Kachari Ghat is close to Paltan Bazar, which is 2 Km away. Autos and Buses are operating from Paltan Bazar to Ghat.

Private and Government Boats are running from all Ghats to the temple.

Umananda temple Guwahati History

As per the Legend, To come out of the Sati Devi’s death, Lord Siva started meditating here on this hill. Kamadev made an attempt in diverting Lord Siva. Angered Siva turned Kamadev to ashes with his third eye. This Hill is also called by Bhasmachala. This temple was built in 1694 by Gadadhar Singh.

Temple will be crowded on Sivaratri festival days, Navaratri days and Karthik Masa days.
