Tirupati Temple History
As per the Legend, Lord Venkateswara came down to the Earth in search of Goddess Lakshmi. Lakshmi Devi left Vaikuntam in Eager. Lord Venkateswara took rest in an anthill. A cowherd was grazing the cattle in the hill. One day cowherd noticed that a cow is emptying its udder over the Anthill. The Cowherd raised his stick to beat the cow. It missed the cow and hit the Lord Venkateswara. Cowherd died on the spot for the mistake. The King followed the cow next and realized that it is Lord Vishnu residing the Anthill. Lord Vishnu cursed the King for his Servant’s mistake and blessed him that curse will be reversed when he gets married to Padmavathi Devi.
