Tirupati, 21 Sep 2015: Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy took a celestial ride on Gaja Vahana on the 6th day of SriVari SalaKatla Brahmotsavam evening and blessed His devotees.

In general, a Gaja personifies a number of positive attributes, including abundance, fertility and richness; boldness and strength; and wisdom and royalty.

Over a period of time encompassing several centuries, elephants became an important part of Indian life and society, particularly of religious tradition, the royalty, and the aristocratic segment of the society.

The legend states that Airavata, the first elephant, emerged from the churning of the ocean. There is another mythological account, which states that Brahma created elephants. An elephant is also one of several attributes of a Chakravartin, which he is expected to own to be bestowed with the title of Chakravatin, that is, the supreme and universal ruler.

To depict His supremacy and majesty, Lord Sri Venkateswara blessed His devotees on the mammoth Gaja Vahanam.
