Bhimaratha Santhi is the ritual performed for a couple when the individual’s 71st year has started. This ritual is performed when a person completes 70 years and enters the 71st year, and this puja is held on the birth star day. This puja is usually organized by the family members or relatives. It is a token of gratitude for fulfilling their responsibilities. The puja duration is 2 to 3 hours. There are two types of pujas, which are Oru-Kaala and Rendu-Kaala. It means that one-day and two-day pujas are available at Thirukadaiyur.

The 70th marriage method includes many Ayush Shanti Homams, such as Mrutyunjaya Homam and Dhanvantri Homam. The Mangalaya Dharanam and Kalasa Abhisheka ceremonies are conducted. Even singles or unmarried individuals can perform this puja. This puja is believed to drive the couple towards spirituality.

Dress Code

• Gents should wear a white dhoti along with either a shirt or a kurta and pyjama.
• Ladies: saree or salwar kameez (with pallu compulsory).
• All devotees are requested to avoid clothes such as T-shirts, jeans, etc., as they are strictly prohibited, irrespective of age group.

As per the folklore, Lord Shiva blessed Markandeya with a full life and also revived Yama (God of death) at this place. It is believed that performing the 70th marriage puja at this place will yield the best results. The puja duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The couple can perform one-day or two-day pujas as required. You can perform this puja on any day. It is advisable to perform this puja on your birth star day.
