Surya Prabhakara Vahanam during Surya Jayanthi observed with religious fervour in Tirumala on 26th Jan.
Tirumala, 26 January 2015: The annual festival of Surya Jayanthi has been observed with religious fervour in Tirumala on Monday.
As a part of this one day fete, lord Malayappa swamy in the guise of Lord surya narayanamurthi decked on a colourfully decorated golden surya prabhakara vahanam took celestial ride along four mada streets. The first Rays of the sun touched the lotus feet of Lord around 7.20am. Tens ofthousands of pilgrims who thronged to catch this rare glimpse chanted Govinda Nama loudly in chorus with ecstasy.
After the surya prabha, Lord took celestial ride on Chinna Sesha vahanam, followed by the most famous Garuda and Hanumantha vahanams.
After taking ride on the four important vahanams, the Sudarshana chakrattalwar was rendered celestial bath in swamy pushkarini.
Later in the evening the processions spree commenced with kalapavruksha, followed by sarvabhoopala and concluded with chandraprabha Vahanam.
