Shani Shingnapur History

As per the folklore,  Shinganapur was flooded with heavy rains. An Idol reached Shinganapur along with the floodwaters. The Idol struck to a berry tree. When the normal life restored, the cowherds reached this place for grazing their cattle. Cowherds noticed an Idol between struct between the branches and poked the idol with their sticks. Surprisingly, blood started oozing out of the Idol. Cowherds tried hard to pull the idol but all their efforts went vain and left the idol at the same place. Lord Shani Dev appeared in the dreams of a cowherd and instructed them with the steps to pull the idol. Lord Shani Dev instructed that Idol can only be pulled his maternal uncle and nephew. The devotees after pulling the Idol tried to install at their own place but did not work. After many trials, the Idol was installed successfully at the present open place. The present form of the temple was built by Sri Jawahar Mal, who was blessed with Son on praying for Shani Dev.

Shani Shingnapur Timings

Amavasya (No moon day) will be considered holy for the Shani Puja. Special Pooja will be held on Shani Trayodasi. Temple remains open on all days. 12:00 am – 12:00 am

Prasad Ticket cost: Rs.10 per packet.

Entry is free for the devotees.

The male devotee who used to wear Saffron coloured Dhoti with no shirt and brief.

Darshan waiting time: 2 – 3 hours.

  1. The nearest railway station is at Ahmednagar which is 39 km away.

By Road

  1. Temple is easily reachable from Ahmednagar which is 35 km way, Aurangabad is 84 km away.
