Seemantham Homam Cost, Benefits, Procedure, and Booking

In the South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, it is a significant tradition that is performed on odd months—the third, fifth, seventh, and ninth—of pregnancy. The term “Seemantham” describes the parting of hair that occurs right above the eyebrow, which is the residence of Sri Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. This results in the custom of applying vermilion on the parting to please the Goddess Sri Lakshmi, so that a woman is seen as the symbol of the Goddess Lakshmi herself upon giving birth to a child.

The short form for Seemanthonnayanam is Seemantha. Married women split their hair traditionally to the left and right in a line that begins in the middle of the forehead and extends to the center of the head. Seemantha is the spot where this line meets her forehead. Married women can apply for sindoor here. drawing the dividing line in an upward direction, starting at the top of the forehead. In Seemantha, this is the principal ritual. Because of this, the samskara is named after this. Seemantonnayanam involves dividing the expectant mother’s hair in half.
