Our Sanskriti & Gyan Temples Pooja, Darshan, and Timings Putra Kameshti Yagam in Srikalahasti is performed outside the main temple. This puja is performed on all days. According to the scripts of the Ramayana, it is known that the king, Dasaratha, performed the Putra Kameshti Yagam. King Dasaratha was blessed with four children, namely Rama, Bharatha, Shatrugna, and Lakshmana. At the end of the Yagna, Agni Deva offered Yagnaphala to Dasaratha. Dasaratha passed it on to his wives. Putra Kameshti Yagam is a powerful ritual that removes any dosha associated with the pregnancy. It is advisable to perform this puja before starting your medical treatment related to pregnancy.
You can perform this puja on any day. An astrologer can let you know the auspicious date for this puja after checking the Tara Balam. It is advisable to perform this puja as a couple. A Brahman can perform this puja on your behalf if required. This puja is believed to bless the couple with a baby boy or a baby girl. Putra Kameshti means a healthy child. This puja doesn’t mean that it blesses the couple with a baby boy.

Puja Dress Code
- For gentlemen, the dress code includes a white dhoti and either a shirt or a kurta paired with pajamas.
- Ladies: saree or salwar kameez.

- A woman can perform this puja after the fifth day of her menstrual cycle.
- If there is a death in the family, you can perform this puja after six months.
- One family member can perform this puja on behalf of the entire family.
- A Brahman can perform this puja on your behalf.
