Pitru Dosha Nivarana Pooja in Gokarna Temple is performed on all days. The puja duration is 3 to 4 hours. Pitru dosha puja starts at 7.30 a.m. on normal days. Anyone can perform this puja regardless of their age. This puja should be performed by the elder of the family. On special days such as Amavasya days and Pitru Paksha days, this puja starts at 4.30 a.m. One should perform this puja with utmost devotion and sincerity. Pitru Dosha Puja Procedure in Gokarna

  1. First, you have to report to the counter for the room allotment.
  2. Once your room is allotted, please freshen up and kindly update your availability status at the counter.
  3. Please proceed to the counter to make the puja payment.
  4. After payment, the counter staff will issue a token.
  5. You have to come to Yagashala with the given token, which is nearby.
  6. While coming to Yagashala, please purchase two coconuts, one liter of gingelly oil, and one liter of ghee.
  7. We will provide all remaining puja articles.
  8. Please dress traditionally for this puja.
  9. We will perform the puja in your regional language.
  10. After the puja, we will provide a plate with other puja articles.
  11. Please leave them in the sea and keep the plate on the rock.
  12. Don’t forget to take a holy dip in the sea.
  13. You can leave your dress at the sea or in the room after the puja.
  14. You are not supposed to carry the dress that you wear during the puja.

Puja Dress Code

  • For gentlemen, the dress code includes a white dhoti and either a shirt or a kurta paired with pajamas.
  • Ladies: saree or salwar kameez.
  • Regardless of age group, we kindly request that all devotees refrain from wearing clothing such as T-shirts and jeans.

Puja Instructions To Devotees

  1. One should refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food for three days before the puja.
  2. A woman can perform this puja after the fifth day of her menstrual cycle.
  3. A husband cannot perform this puja if his wife is pregnant and is in the 6th month or above.
  4. If there is any death in the family, then this puja can be performed after six months.
  5. One family member can perform this puja on behalf of the entire family.
  6. A Brahman can perform this puja on your behalf.
  7. A pregnant lady can perform this puja before the sixth month of her pregnancy.
