Typically, two to three pandits will be performing this ritual. The word “Naga Pratishta” means installation of a serpent idol. During this puja process, we will appease Naga Devatha. Naga Pratishta should be performed if someone kills a snake knowingly or unknowingly. This puja is advisable if you have removed or damaged the serpent’s resting place. Damaging snake eggs or watching when snakes are mating will cause severe dosha. If the rituals are not performed properly after killing a snake, then this puja is advisable.

Puja Instructions To Devotees

  1. One should refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food for three days before the puja.
  2. A woman can perform this puja after the fifth day of her menstrual cycle.
  3. If there is a death in the family, you can perform this puja after six months.
  4. A Brahman can perform this puja on your behalf.
