This temple was built on the banks of Netravathi River. It is believed that this temple is 4000 years old. This temple was built during the reign of the King Kundavarma from Alupa dynasty in 10th Century. King met the Saints Matsyendranatha and Gorakanatha who were residing on the banks of Netravathi. Saints who came from Nepal explained the King on the importance of the Place. As instructed by the Saints, King unearthed the Linga and Dharapatra (Mangaladevi form). Kundavarma built the temple for the Goddess Mangala Devi.

Swayamvara Parvathi Homam is famous at this temple which is meant for unmarried girls. Who used to perform this Homa will be blessed with a good spouse.

This Pooja is performed daily. The ticket can be purchased at the counter on arrival for the same day.
