Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

This area was declared as the National Park in the year 1978. This park stretches over 777 Sq. Km. This Park is one of the major Tiger Reserves in India. It is estimated that there are 40 tigers currently living in this National Park.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is inhabited by herbivorous animals such as Spotted Deer, Slender Loris, Wild Elephants and Carnivorous animals such as Crocodiles, Tiger, Reptiles, Insects. This sanctuary is located adjacent to Tamil Nadu State. In the year 1984, this area was declared as the Wildlife sanctuary to protect animals.

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary

The Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary stretches over 55 Sq. km. Elephant, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, Nilgiri langur, Hanuman langur, the Malabar giant squirrel can be seen here.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

Wayanad in the Western Ghats is the second-largest animal sanctuary in the state of Kerala. This reserve occupies 345 Sq. km of area and is part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. This sanctuary houses herbivorous and Carnivorous wild animals such as Elephant, Spotted Deer, Indian Bison, tiger, leopard, sloth bear, monkey, civet cats.

Apart from wild animals, this place attracts bird watchers as Peacock is commonly seen here. This sanctuary houses rare and endangered species. Other commonly seen birds in the sanctuary are Malabar Grey Hornbill, woodpecker, kingfisher, black drongo, bulbul, lapwings and pheasants

Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary

The Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary stretches over 105.364 Sq km. The wildlife in this sanctuary is similar to Thekkady Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Elephants, bison, sambar deer, wild dogs, jungle cats, grey jungle fowl, Malabar grey hornbill can be seen here.

Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary

One of the Tiger reserve forests in Kerala Wildlife Sanctuary. The largest teak tree, Kannimara in the Asia is 450 years old and is located here. This Sanctuary spread over an area 285 Sq km.
 

Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary

Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary spread over an area of 100 sq. Km and is 95 km from Kochi station. This Sanctuary was established in 1984.
