Edakkal Caves Wayanad. Timings, Ticket cost
This cave has an altitude of 4265.10 ft above sea level and is 3 km from Ambalavayal and 25 km from Kalpetta. It is an hour trekking up the Ambukuthy Mountain to reach the cave. This is not a cave in the real sense. The caved formed due to some natural causes. the rock which got displaced from the main source due created the cave appearance. The cleft is about 96 ft long and 22 ft wide. This rock formation attracts tourists and a must visit a place. The drawings in the caves date back to Stone age ie. 5000 to 1000 BC. These caves were discovered in 1890 AD by Fred Fawcett, who works at Malabar state.
